When to Get Sleep Help with a Newborn

Let’s get one thing clear, newborn sleep support is not about routines, sleep training, or “fixing” your baby. In the early weeks and months, sleep is messy, unpredictable, and entirely normal that way.

Newborns are still adjusting to life outside the womb. Their sleep develops gradually, they feed frequently (sometimes every hour!), and they rely on you for settling. They don’t yet produce melatonin on their own — that starts around 8–12 weeks. So much of their sleep is guided by your presence, your hormones (especially if you’re breastfeeding), and your rhythms.
